Ingredients

1 cup - Da Terrinha popcorn kernels

1 cup - Refined sugar

1/2 cup - Oil (corn, cottonseed, or canola)

1/2 cup - Water

1 dessert spoon - Red food coloring

Preparation Method

1Place all ingredients in a popcorn maker or a large pot and mix well.
2Bring to medium heat and let it bubble until the water evaporates, the caramel forms, and the kernels begin to pop.
3Cover the pot, lower the heat, and begin stirring the handle of the popcorn maker (or shake the pot manually if using a regular one) so the kernels stay at the bottom and the caramelized popcorn rises.
4When the interval between pops increases, turn off the heat to avoid burning the caramel.
5Distribute into paper bags and serve.
